The Great Lakes Accessible Information Technology Initiative

The Great Lakes Accessible Information Technology (AIT) Initiative, within the Great Lakes Center, provides individuals and organizations with information and resources on Information Technology (IT) and its ease of use to the widest range of end users. We provide technical assistance, education, training, referrals, and materials to individuals and entities that seek information related to information technology accessibility.

Technical Assistance

The Great Lakes Center operates a regional toll-free information line for answering questions about AIT and legal implications for IT as it is used to deliver services and information to the public. This includes but is not limited to coursework within an education-based settings, HR applications within the workplace, access to collections within libraries, delivery of services or the exchange of information with the public by government entities and e-commerce such as on-line shopping. Anyone seeking information is encouraged to call our toll-free information line: 800-949-4232 (V/TTY)

Materials Dissemination

The Center maintains a library of materials on accessible information technology and legislation providing opportunities for people with disabilities. If you have any question and/or to request a copy of available materials in a variety of formats contact your National ADA Network or by calling 800-949-4232 (V/TTY).

Education & Training

The Center also offers training in various forms, including lectures, discussion, hands-on participation and distance learning. Training is tailored to the audience. Topics include, but are not limited to:
