Trainings

The Great Lakes ADA Center provides trainings with up-to-date information on the ADA and its implementation tailored to meet specific customer needs. In addition, the Center expanded its role to conduct outreach, technical assistance and trainings to encourage the incorporation of Accessible Information Technology in K-12 and post secondary school settings.

Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)

The Great Lakes ADA Center provides training on request, tailored to the specific needs of each group, agency or company on a variety of topics under the ADA and related laws:

  • ADA Overview
  • Accessible Electronic Information
  • Employment rights and responsibilities (job descriptions, interviewing, medical inquiry)
  • Reasonable accommodations
  • State & local government responsibilities
  • Disability awareness
  • Modification of policy & practices
  • Accessibility standards & guidelines
  • Effective communication
  • Subject specific (i.e. accessing emergency response systems, child care, or recreation environments)

The Center's professional training staff has experience in disability law, issues and trends. Since 1991, the Great Lakes ADA Center has provided training programs for entities such as:
