As military personnel leave active duty and seek to re-enter or enter the workforce for the first time Employers may have returning employees and applicants with disabilities. Employers may be faced with accommodating returning veterans and applicants and will need information on applicable laws and resources to provide accommodations to those employees and applicants. In addition to the ADA the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA) applies to returning veterans. The ADA applies to the recruiting, hiring and accommodating of qualified veterans with disabilities. The USERRA, enforced by the U.S. Department of Labor, sets forth the requirements for reemploying veterans with and without service-connected disabilities.
